EFFECTS OF FOLIAR POTASSIUM FERTILIZATION ON MUSKMELON FRUIT QUALITY AND YIELD

2007-2008 – This very important study done in 2006 -2007 in South Tx A&M research in combination with USDA showed the challenges of increasing adequate solids or sugars in muskmelon. Several commercial potassium fertilizers were used comparing Metalosate Potassium Foliar fertilizers to evaluate effectiveness of these foliar applied fertilizers to increase quality parameters. Although initial soil K was high (600 ppm +), foliar K improved yield and quality parameters with the greatest improvements were with Metalosate Potassium Foliar Fertilizer applications.
