Effects of Metalosate Crop-Up and Metalosate Calcium Foliar applications on several fruit and vegetable species compared to traditional local farmer treatment
March 2015 – The experiment was carried out in the Souss Massa region in Morocco. The aim of this work is to evaluate the effect of foliar application of Metalosate® calcium and Crop-Up in tomato, table grapes, citrus, and cantaloupe melon. The results showed that total yield was improved by 13% in plants treated with Metalosate® calcium compared to the control, and 21.3% for those treated with Metalosate® Crop-Up. Foliar sprays of calcium caused an increase of 18% in the number of flowers per cluster formed compared to control; and a 20% increase in fruit per cluster. In case of the Metalosate® Crop-Up treatment our results indicate an increase of 12.6% in the number of flowers formed by cluster; and 14.3% fruit per cluster on fruit per cluster compared to the control. Metalosate® Calcium recorded higher values of fruit calcium compared to the untreated control. Calcium sprayed on covered fruit increased calcium content in the fruit despite the fruit being covered. This indicates Metalosate® technology to be quickly absorbed and then become mobile, moving from leaves to fruit.
